Sandhill Cranes
Sandhill Cranes are one of my favorite birds. Tall and graceful, they will pair up with mates while in their southern wintering location, and then fly north together to the breeding grounds. They have loud, very complex calls that can be heard from a great distance. These birds often mate for life. When pairing off, the males will dance for potential partners, and when you get a chance to watch the cranes dance, it can be quite magical.
