Photo Wednesday: Majestic Elk

Another image from my 2014 trip to Yellowstone, this is an Elk that decided it would be fun to stake out a spot next to the side of the road near Artist Point and just hang out there for a few days. As you might imagine, hilarity ensued as the ongoing clot of tourists (myself included) scrambled for parking and clear views to take images of him. Rangers had their hands full trying to manage the parking and keep tourists from getting run over; I saw one woman pulled to safety three times because she was so focussed on the animal she kept forgetting she was on a road and obliviously walked in front of cars and tour busses.

The elk, it seemed enjoyed the attention immensely.
