More Feeder images
I still haven’t gone out shooting, but I’ve been enjoying being able to do some fun imaging out the window at the feeders. I did — finally — spend time Saturday cleaning out the car, sorting out what was in it and packing it again for trips around the area; of course, that means that today the rain is moving in. Still, I’m now actually ready to head out and start exploring….
There are now three woodpecker species regularly visiting, the adult female Hairy, and now, a male Downy and a small group of about 3 Northern Flickers. A Spotted Towhee is visiting a few times a day, and the special bird is an immature Black-Headed Grosbeak, one that seems to be this hatch year, that I’m seeing every few days chowing down. I’m not sure if it intends to stay or not; it probably should migrate, but it’s stuck around for a couple of weeks now. Not yet photographed is a Cooper’s Hawk that has hunted the feeder a couple of times, most recently making a run at one of the squirrels but missing — the Stellar’s Jays then made their displeasure at the presence of the hawk quiet clear. We have two squirrel species visiting, the ubiquitous grey squirrel and smaller Douglas Squirrels.
And the Coyotes are still around, making noise on and off. It seems like a small group, not an individual, from the voices inside the group chorus when they go off, maybe 4-6 of them, quite close to us and often on the property.
So, once the rain stops, off to Cape Foulweather to explore…
