Farsight Security has joined the DomainTools family

The press release is out, so I can now talk about this. Farsight Security, the company I’ve worked for for the last four years (has it REALLY been four years? Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun) has been acquired by DomainTools, and is now part of the DomainTools family. DomainTools has long been a partner to Farsight and this has been in discussion for a good while, and I think it’s a really interesting merging of data and common interests.

My job and employment status has not changed one bit, and is expected to expand as we sort out how the two groups merge together over the next few ones. I feel pretty good about this change, and we’ll see how it goes.

FWIW, DomainTools is funded by the venture firm Battery Ventures, which is, IMHO, one of the good ones out there.

So personally, nothing has changed but the name of the thing sending me paychecks, and I think this will really allow both companies to do better things that either could separate, and I’m looking forward to helping figure out how to make that happen. (Also: DomainTools is based in Seattle, not Silicon Valley, and fortunately, has turned into a remote worker friendly company during the pandemic, so my working from my home office won’t change, either, although if I do need to get into the office, it won’t involve a plane flight now…)
