Cleaning up my Social Media
One of the projects I wanted to work on in the new year was sorting out my Social media setup and figure out which systems I wanted to prioritize as I’m hoping to be more active again and putting a bit more effort — but there are so many options and trying to be active on all of them would simply take up too much time.
It seems Meta has made this a bit easier for me, by deciding to nuke their fact checking, basically following the policy Elon Musk has set up for X/Twitter.
I have decided to focus my efforts on two systems: Mastodon and BlueSky. I’ll be abandoning Threads completely, no longer posting or monitoring it. I’ll be discontinuing posting my content to Instagram or Facebook, but in both cases, there are people or groups in both places that I can’t access anywhere else, so I will still be monitoring those systems on a reduced basis and contributing in very limited ways.
If you want to keep in contact with me, I suggest you reach out on one or both of those systems since I am unlikely to see things sent to me on any other systems in a timely basis (or perhaps ever). I’ll also note that I logged off of LinkedIn when I retired, so if you’ve ever tried to contact me there, I haven’t and won’t ever see it (because I’m retired!)
